Advocate

The keys to political power are voting and voicing our concerns to our public officials.

Citizens who write, phone or visit their representatives and senators in the Georgia General Assembly can influence the laws passed by the Assembly. The well-being and humane treatment of people in Georgia's prisons, the lengths of sentences imposed, the provision of qualified and zealous attorneys by the courts for those who cannot afford them, and the collection of fees by the Georgia Department of Corrections from families are all issues addressed by laws passed by the General Assembly.

Through legislative advocacy the families and friends of the Georgia’s incarcerated citizens can call our elected officials and the GDC to accountability for the care of the massive number of people in Georgia’s prisons and jails.
