SCHR Releases 2010 Human Rights Report

Date of Publication:
06/01/2010

The Southern Center for Human Rights is proud to release the 2010 Human Rights Report. This year's edition includes stories about our reinvigorated struggle to save Georgia's indigent defense system, our litigation to halt prison violence and trauma in Alabama, updates on the cases of our clients who are facing the death penalty, our victories in the Georgia General Assembly, and much more.

It is the generous and long-term financial support of our donors that allows SCHR to be an independent voice on the side of the accused, the marginalized, and the disenfranchised, and it is our privilege to share with you some of these stories in the 2010 Human Rights Report. After reading this year’s Report, please consider making a contribution to our work, and help us keep shining a light on the criminal justice system as we work to make it fair, accountable and effective.

SCHR provides legal representation to people facing the death penalty, challenges human rights violations in prisons and jails, seeks through litigation and advocacy to improve legal representation for poor people accused of crimes, and advocates for criminal justice system reforms on behalf of those affected by the system in the Southern United States. SCHR is a non-profit, public interest organization. It depends on generous donations from individuals to carry on its work. It receives no government funding.
