David Stern
David Stern served as the executive director at Equal Justice Works, the nation’s largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law. Through David’s leadership, the organization grew from an annual budget of $2 million to $24 million, and the number of Fellows grew from 20 to 300 through a combination of private and public funding. Of the more than 2,500 former Fellows, 85% remain in public service, many of them in senior leadership positions. David also led the organization’s efforts to preserve Public Service Loan Forgiveness, which has provided more than $40 billion in student debt relief. Equal Justice Works has a network including thousands of law students and almost every U.S. law school to promote public service opportunities.
David has been recognized as a “Champion of Change” by the White House, as one of “The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America” by The National Law Journal, and as one of the “Greatest Washington Lawyers in the Past 30 Years” by The Legal Times.
