
Lachlan Athanasiou
Lachlan Athanasiou joined SCHR’s Impact Litigation Unit as a legal fellow in September of 2024. Lachlan’s work at SCHR focuses on challenging the ways Georgia criminalizes poverty through its privatized probation system, fines, and fees. Prior to joining SCHR, Lachlan clerked for Chief Judge Kristine G. Baker on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
Lachlan received his J.D., cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in May of 2023. During law school, Lachlan interned at the Mississippi Center for Justice, Brennan Center for Justice, and Center for Constitutional Rights. Lachlan was also an articles editor for the University Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law.
Before Law school, Lachlan was a high school teacher and assistant football coach at Greenville High School in Greenville, Mississippi. Lachlan holds a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and is a member of the Georgia Bar.
