Samrin Ali

Samrin Ali joined SCHR in September 2021. She received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in May 2021. There, she represented people convicted of criminal offenses through the Criminal Appeals and Post-Conviction Services Clinic. While in law school, Samrin interned at SCHR, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, and the Alexandria Public Defender.

Samrin has also volunteered with the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project. The George Washington University Law School awarded her the Justice Thurgood Marshall Civil Liberties Award for her performance in the field of civil rights and civil liberties.

Prior to law school, Samrin worked as a legislative fellow for the New York State Senate. Samrin received her M.S. and B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
