Ben Gunning

Ben Gunning joined the Impact Litigation Unit as a Staff Attorney in 2024. Ben received his J.D. in 2020 from Harvard Law School, where he represented incarcerated clients in prison disciplinary hearings through the Prison Legal Assistance Project and represented clients facing charges in adult and juvenile courts through the Criminal Justice Institute.

During his summers, Ben worked at the MacArthur Justice Center and the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. After law school, Ben worked as a law clerk for Judge Catharine F. Easterly on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and Judge Myron H. Thompson on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. Ben also worked as a legal fellow at the MacArthur Justice Center, where he primarily represented incarcerated plaintiffs in appeals seeking to protect their access to courts to bring civil rights claims.

Ben holds a B.S. and B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and he is a member of the District of Columbia bar.
