Victor's Fellow

Ben Mordechai-Strongin

Ben Mordechai-Strongin joined SCHR in September 2023 as a Victor’s Fellow, sponsored by the University of Michigan Law School. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2023. Ben hopes to focus his work on sentence reduction and decarceration.

In law school, Ben was a student attorney for the Civil Rights Litigation Initiative, where he represented a man wrongfully arrested because of police abuses of facial recognition technology, a woman experiencing serious mistreatment in prison, students facing racial discrimination, and other clients.  During law school, he interned at the ACLU of Idaho, Colorado Public Defenders – Appellate Division, and in a wrongful conviction and exoneration unit in Detroit.

Ben’s student note, Giving the Fourth Amendment Meaning: Creating an Adversarial Warrant Proceeding to Protect From Unreasonable Searches and Seizures, was published by the Michigan Journal of Law Reform.
