An Update on Pain & Power Part II

Thank you to all – community members, partners, and elected officials – for joining us last Thursday night, February 22, 2024, for our Pain and Power Part II: Tackling Police Violence in Atlanta symposium. Your presence is invaluable to the change we are working towards. As discussed, we are committed to ensuring that community voices and truth –whether it be in the form of local datanational comparative data or the lived experiences for the families directly impacted by police violence – are the centering and guiding force in policy solutions when legislation is being introduced and passed on the local and State levels. This week, we will report out all the results from the last weeks Symposium and send the postcards to legislators.

We were excited to premier the mini-documentary explaining the genesis and goals of our Atlanta Policing Violence project from our hyper-local Townhalls to our collaborative Crosstown Conversations and our initial capstone Pain and Power Symposium in August 2023. We believe the data and stories shared will resonate deeply with you and provide valuable insights into policing trends of violence in Atlanta. We are excited to share a few moments from the evening below and the final film with you and the rest of Atlanta when it is online!

Lastly, we would like for you to continue to be involved in our future efforts and convenings for Pain and Power, including legislative hearings. Your advocacy and dedication to making our community safer does not go unnoticed and we thank you for all you do.
